only by defeating individualism in eachone of us can we make a difference

🚩

I discovered the story of Lorenzo Orsetti a few years ago, reading his will, a touching document dedicated to his family, but especially to posterity.

Lorenzo Orsetti, nicknamed Bear, even if he preferred to be called Heval Tekoşer Piling, his battle name, in his last will gives us a speech that, without excessive praise, would be taught in schools, of every order and degree.

Words that touch the soul, moving, those of Heval Tekoşer Piling, who in the book, introduce his messages, his ideas about war and his vision of the world.

Posts, interviews, letters and stories from the front, go to compose a portrait of the years spent defending Kurdish democracy from Turkish and ISIS interference.

📖

Seek Strength and infuse it into your fellows

One of the truths that Lorenzo wanted to convey to us, he who, with an enormous spirit of will, sacrificed himself for a just ideal, to allow a people, without land, to acquire the rights owed and never obtained by the governments of Syria and Turkey.

A democratic dream that the Kurdish supported by the militias, territorial and international, the YPG, in which Lorenzo played.

Lorenzo Orsetti, 1986-2019

Through his words and writings we can retraces a journey that lasted from 2017, the date of his departure from home, until 2019, the year of his death in battle.

📣

Tekoşer in this book has taught us the gift of sacrifice, of knowing how to offer others even their own life, in the name of a greater ideal, but above all the great strength to believe in their ideals and to spend every fragment of heart to defend them.

✒️

I recommend reading this book to those interested in discovering the story of a man who has been able to believe in his ideas, without fear of being judged, without fear of dying for what he has always believed in.

A modern hero, who knew how to make a difference, where international politics has remained silent, where "the carriers of freedom" did not want to engage.

Lorenzo Orsetti, a man, a soldier, an example of life.

WILL OF LORENZO ORSETTI

Hello, if you are reading this message it is a sign that you are no longer in this world. Well, don’t get all sad about it, I’m fine with it; I have no regrets, I died doing what I thought was right, defending the weakest and staying true to my ideals of justice, equality and freedom. So despite this untimely demise, my life is still a success, and I’m pretty sure I left with a smile on my face. I couldn’t ask for more. I wish you all the best, and I hope that one day (if you have not already done so) you too will decide to give your life for others, because only in this way will the world change. Only by defeating individualism and selfishness in each of us can we make a difference. They are difficult times I know, but do not give in to resignation, do not give up hope, never! Not even for a moment. Even when all seems lost, and the evils that afflict man and earth seem insurmountable, try to find strength, and infuse it into your fellows. It is precisely in the darkest moments that your light serves. And always remember that "every storm begins with a single drop". Try to be that drop. I love you all, I hope you will treasure these words. Serkeftin! Bear, Tekoser, Lorenzo

AFTER READING

I was a lonely Instagram traveler, when, reading a post, I found some excerpts from the will of Lorenzo Orsetti, Tekoşer Piling, I immediately realized that those sentences had something unique and prophetic.

Hello, if you are reading this message it is a sign that you are no longer in this world. Well, don’t get all sad about it, I’m fine with it; I have no regrets, I died doing what I thought was right, defending the weakest and staying true to my ideals of justice, equality and freedom. (...)
And always remember that "every storm begins with a single drop". Try to be that drop. I love you all, I hope you will treasure these words.

I was aware, reading the sentences reported, that the message of Lorenzo Orsetti would not have vanished from my mind with ease, but you know that between commitments and studies, as often happens, you forget, or rather you leave in the subconscious so much material to sediment.

To rekindle the spark were the guys of the Red Star Press, with their book Orso, already from the cover I had guessed the content, the staff very kind, He explained to me the synopsis of the book and, as a reviewer, to pay me a copy, for which I thank you once again.

The reading began immediately with a cry, of emotion, rereading the words of Tekoşer Piling, contained in his will..

In the pages following the introduction, however, I got to know the cultural environment of Rojava, the autonomous region governed by the Kurds, through the words of Lorenzo .

I discovered, in detail, the task of the YPG, which I had previously seen mentioned in the Zerocalcare documents, and the missions carried out in defense of democracy and the rule of law of the Kurdish people.

I must say that I have been struck once again by the story of Lorenzo, who to most people, from far away, may have seemed a Don Quijote, that nothing could have been against the overwhelming strength of Syria and Turkey, allied with ISIS.

Instead Lorenzo was an example of life, he who with his personal sacrifice, has been able to teach us all the value of their ideas, the power of ideals, the strength of believing that right actions are necessary and necessary, even if they impose harsh renunciations, struggles, sacrifice and blood.

Also at the Red Star Press booth, I bought a poster by Ernesto Guevara, with a prophetic phrase: "And if it’s worth the risk, I’ll bet the last piece of my heart ", this sentence I dedicate to Lorenzo, to the commitment he has made to make this world more just. In an individualistic society he was able to be against the tide and, together with his international comrades, he had the strength to challenge the interference of dictators and terrorism.

As he dedicated to a comrade who died in battle: Şheid namirin, martyrs never die.
